Summer 2029 will be an unforgettable summer in Sønderborg as we welcome the DGI National Festival! Feel the excitement of Denmark’s largest sports festival, where around 25,000 participants gather for unforgettable days filled with sports, concerts, and community. Be part of this amazing experience and help create memories for a lifetime.

We need dedicated volunteers to assist with everything from logistics to creating the best experience for all participants. Your contribution will make a real difference!

First, sign up as a volunteer. Afterwards, you will receive ongoing updates when we have more concrete and specific tasks and areas where we need your help. We will continuously share information about the festival through this platform.

Volunteer when DGI Landsstævne 2029 visits Sønderborg

Denmark’s largest sports festival is coming to Sønderborg in the summer of 2029. The municipality has just received confirmation that it will host the DGI National Festival, which will draw thousands of people to the southern part of the country.

DGI has selected Sønderborg Municipality for several reasons. First and foremost, Sønderborg is a community that is genuinely eager to host an event like the DGI National Festival and fully embraces the festival’s values.

At the same time, Sønderborg offers excellent locations for activities and strong development opportunities, including collaboration across the Danish-German border.

It is important that, as a volunteer helper, you familiarise yourself with the following and, after reading, accept and acknowledge the following:

Insurance Those who perform actual work – paid or unpaid – for the municipality are treated as municipal employees; that is, they are covered by the Danish Workers’ Compensation Act in case of work-related injuries and by employer liability for damages caused to others. The municipality’s obligation to insure voluntary work is defined in the Danish Workers’ Compensation Act. Nevertheless, volunteers are encouraged to check their private insurance and to ensure they have leisure and accident insurance.

When registering on Lokalfrivillig, the volunteer tasks one can sign up for will be described.

Remember to read carefully whether there are considerations you should take yourself. For example, if you have back problems, avoid signing up for tasks where it states ‘Lifting required’.

Obtaining criminal record and child certificate Obtaining child certificates and/or criminal records requires consent from the volunteer.

It is the municipality’s responsibility as organiser to assess whether this is necessary from event to event.
