Become a Volunteer Tourist Host in Gråsten, Nordborg and Sønderborg

Would you like to share your enthusiasm for the Sønderborg area with our visitors?

Every year, thousands of Danish and international tourists visit Sønderborg. We want to give them a warm welcome so they feel truly at home and are inspired to explore everything our fantastic area has to offer.

From June to October, Sønderborg Municipality is looking for volunteer tourist hosts and volunteer coordinators in Gråsten, Nordborg and Sønderborg to join our welcome team.

The tourist hosts assist guests where they are, providing tourist-related information and inspiration for their stay. The coordinators support the team with ongoing practical tasks.

We are looking for enthusiastic local volunteers who take an interest in what is happening in the area and everything visitors can experience on foot, by bike, by car, and on the water.

We are looking for people who, for example...

  • Love exploring nature and make use of the area’s many outdoor opportunities
  • Know about great experiences for families with children as well as couples
  • Have an interest in the history of the area
  • Look forward to summer activities and cultural events

Do you see yourself as a tourist host and someone who...

  • Is welcoming, service-minded, and enjoys talking with guests of different nationalities
  • Can communicate clearly in Danish and either German or English
  • Has local knowledge of Gråsten, Nordborg, or Sønderborg
  • Enjoys working outdoors in all kinds of weather in public urban spaces
  • Has experience operating our cargo bikes (an advantage, but not a requirement)
  • Thrives working both independently and together with others
  • Enjoys being part of a community

  • Helps plan and coordinate duty schedules

  • A training programme in May, where you will gain knowledge about the area’s history, nature, and culture

Det frivillige sociale og sundhedsfremmende område består af syv målgrupper:


  • Misbrug
  • Børn, unge og familier
  • Vennekredse ved kommunale plejecentre
  • Sundhed, sygdom og handicap
  • Ældre
  • Humanitære og kirkelige foreninger
  • Flygtninge, indvandrere og etniske minoriteter


Fælles for alle områderne er, at vi arbejder med borgere, som ofte har brug for støtte og hjælp til at få hverdagen til at hænge sammen.

Indsatsen kan foregå på forskellige måder. Du kan blive frivillig i en eksisterende forening eller organisation, eller du kan engagere dig som aktiv medborger, hvor vi sammen tilpasser indsatsen til din hverdag og den tid, du har mulighed for at bidrage med.
